Caribbean Parrot Conservation Summit
From Science to Solutions: Parrot Conservation under the Birds, People, Prosperity Framework
For the first time in BirdsCaribbean’s history, our International Conference will feature a Caribbean Parrot Conservation Summit dedicated entirely to the conservation of the region’s remarkable endemic parrots.
The Caribbean is home to 11 endemic parrot species, each found nowhere else on Earth. These charismatic birds face mounting threats, including habitat loss, illegal trapping for the pet trade, climate change, and persecution. As a result, all 11 species are classified by the IUCN as at least Near Threatened, with most listed as Vulnerable or Endangered.
The Summit will bring together conservation leaders working to protect all 11 Caribbean endemic parrot species, creating an unprecedented opportunity to share knowledge, strengthen partnerships, and advance parrot conservation across the region.

Interactive Workshop
A collaborative working session where participants will identify common priorities, exchange lessons learned, develop cross-island collaborations, and explore practical solutions to shared conservation challenges.
Many Caribbean parrot conservationists work on small islands with limited staff and resources. While every island is unique, many of the challenges—and opportunities—are shared. Together, we are stronger than any one island can be alone.
