BirdsCaribbean’s 25th International Conference | 23–27 July 2026

Dear BirdsCaribbean Community,

The countdown is on!

In just a few weeks, more than 300 birders, scientists, educators, conservation practitioners, tourism professionals, students, photographers, policy makers, and nature lovers from nearly 30 countries will gather in Trinidad and Tobago for the BirdsCaribbean 25th International Conference.

If you’ve been thinking about attending, there’s still time—but now is the time to register.

And if you’ve already decided to join us but haven’t completed your registration, please do so as soon as possible. We’re now finalizing numbers for the conference venue, catering, airport shuttles, field trips, workshops, conference bags, and many other logistics.

The program is coming together beautifully, and it’s shaping up to be one of our most exciting conferences yet!

1. An Inspiring Line-up of Keynote Speakers

We’re delighted to welcome an outstanding group of keynote speakers whose work spans conservation, community engagement, bird migration, regenerative tourism, environmental leadership, and social justice.

Our keynote speakers include:

• Christian Cooper — award-winning author, Emmy-winning television host, lifelong birder, and environmental advocate
• John Hadad — Group Co-CEO, HADCO Group
• Camila Gómez — SELVA, Colombia
• Faraaz Abdool — internationally acclaimed Trinidadian wildlife photographer, naturalist, and conservation communicator
• Rev. Dr. LoraKim Joyner — veterinarian, minister, and Executive Director of One Earth Conservation
• Nicole Leotaud — Executive Director, Caribbean Natural Resources Institute (CANARI)

2. Caribbean Parrot Conservation Summit

One of the highlights of this year’s conference will be our first-ever Caribbean Parrot Conservation Summit.

This full-day event will bring together researchers, conservation practitioners, government agencies, NGOs, educators, and wildlife managers from across the Caribbean to share experiences, strengthen regional partnerships, and identify practical solutions for conserving our remarkable endemic parrots.

Topics will include species recovery, habitat management, education, community engagement, illegal trapping and trafficking, hurricane preparedness, policy, and collaborative conservation initiatives.

Whether you work directly with parrots or simply care about Caribbean biodiversity, this promises to be an inspiring and highly interactive day.

3. Outstanding Symposia, Workshops, and Roundtables

The conference features an exciting program covering virtually every aspect of Caribbean bird conservation, research, education, monitoring, technology, ecotourism, and community engagement.

New this year are hands-on mid-conference workshops at the world-famous Asa Wright Nature Centre:

• From Field to Archive: Recording, Editing, and Sharing Caribbean Bird Sounds
• From Sound to Science: Passive Acoustic Monitoring for Bird Conservation

4. Don’t Miss the Field Trips!

One of the great joys of every BirdsCaribbean conference is experiencing the birds and natural beauty of our host country.

This year’s field trips, organized by HADCO Experiences, include rainforest birding, hummingbird gardens, wetlands, seabirds, leatherback turtles, the iconic Asa Wright Nature Centre, Tobago’s Main Ridge Forest Reserve, Nariva Swamp, Caroni Swamp, and much more.

5. Reserve Your Hotel Soon

Our conference room blocks at both the Hyatt Regency Trinidad and the Radisson Hotel Trinidad will be released shortly (July 13th for the Hyatt). After that, the special conference rates will only be available if rooms remain.
